Overview

Homeschooling parents are teachers, administrators, and curriculum planners all at once — often without any formal training. Light Path's vision was to create a supportive companion app that helps parents plan daily lessons, manage schedules across multiple children, and get AI-powered guidance whenever they feel stuck. Not a rigid curriculum system, but a warm, flexible tool that gives parents confidence.

The Challenge

Homeschooling families face a unique combination of challenges: planning age-appropriate lessons, tracking progress across subjects, managing schedules for multiple children at different levels, and maintaining their own confidence as educators. Existing tools were either too rigid (forcing a specific curriculum approach) or too bare-bones (glorified to-do lists). Parents needed something that felt supportive and encouraging, not like software built for school administrators.

The Solution

We designed a mobile app experience centered around a warm, intuitive daily dashboard that shows today's lessons, tasks, and reminders at a glance. A guided lesson planning flow walks parents through creating structured plans step by step, without requiring educational expertise. A friendly AI chat assistant provides on-demand support — answering questions about curriculum, suggesting activities, and offering encouragement when parents feel overwhelmed. The visual design uses a warm color palette and friendly iconography to create an approachable, calming experience that feels personal rather than institutional.

The Results

Parents who tested the app found it intuitive and genuinely supportive. Many noted increased confidence in their homeschooling abilities, particularly those who were new to teaching at home. The AI assistant was praised as the standout feature — parents valued having an always-available resource for questions and encouragement. The guided lesson planning reduced the time parents spent on administrative tasks, leaving more time for actual teaching.
