Overview

Propono's founders imagined a restaurant discovery platform built around how people actually choose where to eat — through friends' recommendations, not anonymous reviews. They wanted a social experience where users could share their favorite restaurants, see where their friends are dining, and build a personal food map — part Instagram, part city guide, all about food.

The Challenge

People trust their friends' restaurant picks more than stranger reviews, but there was no platform built around this insight. Existing apps were either review-focused (anonymous and often unreliable) or social networks where food was just one of many content types. The client needed a product that made restaurant sharing the core experience — easy enough that people would actually post after a meal, engaging enough that they'd come back to discover new places.

The Solution

We built a cross-platform mobile app centered around friend-driven restaurant discovery. Users can add friends, share restaurants they love, post photos and reviews, and see a feed of where their social circle is dining. Restaurant albums collect all shared content about a venue in one place. An AI-powered feature summarizes reviews to give quick, reliable impressions. We also populated the initial restaurant database and built an admin dashboard for content and user management.

The Results

The app launched as a feature-rich platform with strong social engagement. Content creation rates exceeded projections, driven by the streamlined share flow that makes posting after a meal effortless. The AI review summarization became a standout feature, giving users quick, trustworthy impressions of restaurants at a glance. The admin dashboard enabled efficient content moderation and user management from day one.
